Letter: Reject Meanness in Local Politics: Re-elect Nora King

Galen Wells writes, that attacks on Nora King on the Web and in the newspaper have been incredibly mean. "I hope that the voters in District E (Rowayton, Brookside and West Norwalk) will rally around Nora and re-elect her," he writes.

To the Editor:

I live in District E and one of my representatives on the Common Council is Nora King.  Nora has always been responsive to the concerns of her constituents, but more important, she stands up and speaks for us.  She asks tough questions and has the courage to oppose something if she thinks is wrong.

For some reason this has been an incredibly mean election in District E.  Nora has been attacked both on the web and in the paper.  The attack on the web was so extreme that she had to turn to Google and its anti bullying remedies to shut down attacks on her personally and her business web site.  This kind of meanness should have no place in local politics.

I hope that the voters in District E (Rowayton, Brookside and West Norwalk) will rally around Nora and re-elect her.  Nora wants to hold taxes down.   She suffers from high taxes, as do her neighbors and friends.  She also feels it is imperative that we support our school system, streamline approval processes to encourage development, hold department heads accountable for the work done by their departments and control crime including gangs and bullying in our schools.  She believes that with smart management you can meet these goals and hold taxes down.  I hope you will join me in voting for Nora on November 8th and say enough to this meanness in local politics.

Galen Wells
