The Case of the Vestibule Recyclables and Other Crimes From the Blotter

In the , a resident at 51 Taylor Ave. reported at 5:35 a.m. Wednesday that some burglars had the effrontery to enter the vestibule of a building and make off with the recyclable material previously contained therein. A resident heard the burglars talking to each other and alerted police.

From 11:32 to 11:39 p.m. Tuesday, police received three calls about shots being fired in South Norwalk. The calls came in from Chestnut Street, Possum Lane and South Main Street.

In response, patrols were ordered to several locations in the neighborhood, but none found any confirmation that anyone had been firing a gun at that time. A number of people told police they heard nothing.

And yet, three people called police at almost the same time about the noise.

A thief in the night

A window of a truck parked at 25 Grand St. was smashed by someone who then took a cordless drill from inside the vehicle. The theft was reported to police at 11:19 p.m. Tuesday.

Infant alone in a car for minutes

A Norwalk woman who parked her car at Rowayton Elementary School to get a sick child out of school left an infant in her vehicle for less than five minutes. Then police were called at 10:12 a.m. by an employee at the school. School employees have mandates that they must report cases of abused children to police. Police, who also have mandates, charged the woman with leaving a child unsupervised, and they issued her a summons.
