Cops: He Admits Having 3 Crack Bags, Then They Find 4 More

Police passing by Nathan Trowell, 21, of Bridgeport thought they saw him passing off drugs to another person as Trowell sat on milk crates by the homeless shelter at 4 Merritt St. in South Norwalk.

Norwalk police gave this account (an accusation not proven in court) of what happened next:

When Trowell noticed police were approaching him, he put his hand to his mouth and took swigs from a soda can. Asked if he had anything in his mouth, he said he didn't, and police didn't say they found anything there.

Asked if he had drugs on him, he said yes, he had crack cocaine and gave them a bag from one of his pockets. Inside the bag were three smaller plastic bags containing crack.

Then police patted him down and found four more small bags of crack on him. All the contents of the bags later tested postive as crack.

Trowell was charged with selling narcotics, selling narcotics within 1,500 feet of a school, possession of narcotics and possession of narcotics within 1,500 feet of a school. He was held on $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear Oct. 11 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
