David McCarthy was born in New Jersey in 1966.  He attended the University of Pennsylvania on a full scholarship thru the Navy ROTC and upon graduation he was commissioned an Ensign in the United States Navy.

Over 8 years on active duty, Dave was stationed aboard the World War II-era Battleship, USS Wisconsin (BB-64) , ran logistics for all of the US Navy’s trainer aircraft and served in Naples, Italy supporting all military assigned to southern Italy.  During this time, LT McCarthy picked up a love for the Italian language as well as the culture and food, which carries forward to the present. 

Discharged from the Navy, David returned to the United States to attend graduate school at Georgetown University in Washington, DC.  He graduated with high honors and received many awards, including membership in Beta Gamma Sigma, the International Honor Society.

David and his wife, Pam, make their home in Norwalk with their daughter, Allison.

David and Pam are members of Roton Point, where Dave serves on the Board of Directors and is a member of both the Finance and Personnel Committees.  They are also members of the Ischoda Yacht Club in South Norwalk.

David is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Norwalk Senior Center.  He is on the Finance Committee and serves as treasurer.  He also serves on the Financial Development Committee.

David is a member of the Common Council representing District E. 

David's hobbies are numerous and include salt water fish aquariums, movie and television trivia as well as reading. 

In 2001, David was on the ABC television show, "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" with host Regis Philbin.  He won $125,000, walking away from a question about crickets that has now become infamous in the McCarthy household and with friends.
