Norwalk Hospital is a non-profit community teaching hospital that serves the city and its surrounding communities.…More Founded in 1893, the hospital is now licensed for as many as 328 beds and has a staff of 418 physicians among more than 1,700 employees overall.</p> <p>The hospital is a Level Two Trauma Center providing emergency services. Norwalk Hospital's Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine Center provides oxygen therapy for patients with carbon monoxide poisoning, diver's "bends" and other conditions.</p> <p>The Yale School of Medicine uses the hospital as a teaching facility, and Norwalk Hospital also has advanced fellowship programs for doctors in gastroenterology and pulmonary medicine.</p> <p>Clinical programs of the hospital include six significant service areas: cancer, cardiovascular, digestive diseases, emergency care, orthopedics/neurospine and women's and children's care.</p> <p>The Childbirth Center in the hospital features single rooms with private baths and showers as well as massage therapy for both mothers and newborns.
