It is an urban waterfront development that surrounds the estuary of the Norwalk River. Norwalk is known for being one of the largest producing oyster ports in the world, and this success is dependent on the quality of the water that reaches the oyster beds at the beginning of the estuary. This is a great park to take dogs for a walk or go for a run. It is well lit and is monitored by video cameras. It also connects some smaller attractions, such as Mathews Park and Pine Island Cemetery, Oyster Shell Park, the Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk, the SoNo Historic District and The Marina District.
