Founded in 1961, Norwalk Community College was originally two colleges. In 1992, Norwalk State Technical College merged with Norwalk Community College to become the second-largest of the 12 college in the Connecticut Community Colleges.
Located on a 30-acre spread of land, Norwalk Community College offers 40 associate degrees and 27 certificate programs through fall and spring semester and six summer sessions. Approximately 6,000 full- and part-time students attend classes.
The campus is split between two buildings on either side of Richards Avenue. On the East Campus, there are classrooms, a library with 60,000 items, a language laboratory and a theater. The West Campus is home to the William H. Schwab Center for Information Technology, science labs, classrooms and a fitness center.
