Join Friends of the Norwalk Islands and Live Green CT! at their first annual “Wild and Scenic Film Festival” featuring environmental film vignettes from around the world, professionally produced in glorious cinematography, and beautifully narrated by celebrities, naturalists and those whose livelihoods depend on a clean and green environment.
The films illustrate the environmental challenges facing our planet, and herald those who diligently work to save our natural resources and animal habitats.
Meant to inspire community environmental participation and advocacy, the films will awe and educate viewers in this era of increasing disconnection from the outdoor world.
The Wild & Scenic Film Festival was started in 2003 by a watershed advocacy group, the South Yuba River Citizens League (SYRCL), in celebration of SYRCL’s 1999 landmark victory of receiving “Wild & Scenic” status for 39 miles along the South Yuba River. The 4-day festival kicks off a national tour in 100 communities nationwide, and features 100’s of award-winning films, guest speakers, celebrities, and activists who bring a human face to the environmental movement.
Friends of the Norwalk Islands are a non-profit conservancy group founded to safeguard and preserve the remarkable ecosystems at the Norwalk Islands, and to support the conservation goals of the Stewart B. McKinney National Wildlife Refuge. The group offers nature learning programs, photography outings and many opportunities for hands-on involvement.
