Finger Lickin' Good — Pork in the Park, Stamford's Barbecue Festival

More than 25 teams will be presenting their tasty vittles as they compete for the CT State Barbecue Championship this weekend.


If you like barbecue and your tastebuds are hankering for a good dose of ribs and wings, then Mill River Park in Stamford is your weekend destination.

The annual Pork in the Park BBQ Festival will be hosting more than 25 teams competing to be the Connecticut State Barbecue Champion at the downtown Stamford park on Saturday, July 12 and Sunday, July 13. 

There will be a grand tasting tent where wings and ribs will be served by food trucks, barbecue vendors and product vendors.

The two-day festival also will feature continuous entertainment. Among the bands scheduled are Snooty Garland, The Big Takeover, Gravity, the Jen Durking Band, the UConn Funky Dawgz Brass Band, Jump the Gunn Country Band and Terrapin, a Greenwich-based band.

On Saturday afternoon there also will be cooking demos with chefs Carlos Baez of The Spread in Norwalk, Juan Gonzalez of Cask Republic in Stamford, and Ernst Turnier of Cafe Turnier Catering in Norwalk.

A fun zone will feature amusements for all ages and pig races.

Location: Mill River Park, Washington Boulevard, Stamford.
Hours: Saturday: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Sunday: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Admission: $10; $5 for children.
