The amount of snow piles collecting street trash has caused Keep America Beautiful's local Norwalk chapter to announce the group's planned neighborhood cleanup dates a bit earlier this year.
Each year Norwalk chapter pulls out the work gloves, garbage bags, and litter-grabber tools to help clean the parks, sidewalks and roads that served as a trash magnate during the winter.
David Shockley, leader of the group, has provided a list of areas that are looking for volunteers to help out with the clean up. "New areas are welcome," he said. "All I need is for someone to register with me so I can provide the supplies and arrange a City pickup of the litter that's been collected."
To register simply provide the name of the group and association, person to contact and details about how many volunteers and how much equipment will be needed, to dshockley@norwalkct.org , or call Shockley at (203) 854-7810 ext. 46782.
Neighbors on Golden Hill are planning their cleanup for March 19. Flax Hill Park is scheduled for April 2. April 16 has Devon's Place and the Norwalk River shoreline in Vet's Park. The area around Brien McMahon High School and Roton Road is scheduled for cleanup on April 30.
At last night's Norwalk Center neighborhood meeting, the Wall Street clean up was set for May 14.
