[Note: Want your ]

10. KYLE HART-MIKE FORGIONE () Hart and Forgione are the thunder and lightning of the Thunderbirds line-up. Hart is hitting a blistering .543 while Forgione is right behind his teammate with a .522 average. This dynamic duo is a big reason why North Branford is 13-2 in 2012.

9. KYLE DUNSTER-CASEY GAYNOR () There are many reasons why Greenwich is the number one team in the state in baseball and Dunster and Gaynor are two of them. Gaynor, the ace of the Cardinals staff, is 6-0 with a minuscule 1.65 ERA. Dunster, who is just a sophomore, is usually the pitcher who puts the exclamation point on the victories. The team's closer has not allowed an earned run in 16 innings and set the all-time single season saves record in school history with five.

8. MEAGHAN BROPHY-MEREDITH BRIDGES () The Nighthawks girls lacrosse team is an offensive juggernaut, scoring 168 goals this season. Brophy and Bridges account for a good deal of them. Brophy, just a sophomore, has ripped the back of the net 39 times in 2012. Her teammate, Bridges, is right behind her with 35 scores making it difficult for opponents to key on just one player.

7. DAVID CHERRY-ANDREW REEL () Cherry and Reel are the no-hit kids of the Panthers pitching staff. Cherry, a senior right-hander, struck out 15 en route to a no-hitter against Immaculate in April. Reel followed that up with a no-hitter of his own against Weston. Not to be outdone, Cherry fired a no-hitter in his very next start in a 5-0 victory over New Fairfield. It's easy to see why the Panthers are 14-1.

6. BOBBY COSTIGAN-PAT CRAGEN () This terrific combination on the volleyball court has led the Tigers to a 9-3 record. Costigan leads the state with 237 kills and a kill percentage of 69.1 percent. Cragen is the player who sets Costigan up, compiling a state-best 382 assists. In Oxford's last game against Wolcott Tech, Costigan recorded 21 kills and nine digs while Cragen racked up 33 assists and 10 kills.

5. NATE HOWARD-RAY BRUMLEVE () After winning the state championship a year ago, the boys’ volleyball team at Cheshire High School continues to roll. They've stretched their winning streak to an incredible 33 games with Howard and Brumleve leading the way. Howard, who had 333 kills last season, is on pace to break that mark after racking up 11 kills against Amity last week. Brumleve, the team's setter who recorded more than 700 assists in 2012, had 34 in a 3-0 win over that same Amity team.

4. ANDREW CERONE-ANTHONY BRANCA () The Cerone-Branca combination has been a dangerous one for the Stratford lacrosse team. Cerone, just a sophomore, turned in one of the best performances in the state this season. In a game against Amistad Academy, Cerone had eight goals and two assists. The eight goals tied a school record. He currently ranks first among Patch area scorers with 35 goals. If Cerone isn't scoring, it's usually Branca who puts the ball in the net. Branca has score 22 goals in 2012.

3. SHAYNA DELANEY-MEGAN GAFFNEY (Pomperaug) Delaney and Gaffney have been spectacular for the Panthers this season. Delaney scored 20 goals on the lacrosse field in the first two games of the year and hasn't slowed down. She leads the state in scoring with 76 goals. Gaffney is the playmaker that often sets up Delaney for some easy goals. Gaffney has 35 assists to go along with her 26 goals.

2. CASE MATHEIS-HENRY WEST () These players are double-trouble for opponents of Darien lacrosse. Matheis, an All-American and ranked by many as the best high school player in the nation, has 34 goals and 23 assists. He will be taking his talents to Duke University next season. Henry West is headed to Cornell after he concludes what has been a stellar career at Darien High School. He has 24 goals this season.

1. OLIVIA HOMPE-SARAH MANNELLY () Hompe and Mannelly are two of the best female athletes in the history of the state who just happened to be on the same lacrosse team. Hompe, an All-American hockey player is almost as accomplished in lacrosse. The junior, who has already committed to play lacrosse for Princeton, has led the high-powered Rams to a strong season. Hompe has ripped home 53 goals in 2012.  Mannelly is a brilliant three-sport athlete who has teamed up with Olivia Hompe to give the Rams one of the most potent offensive attacks in the state. She has scored four or more goals an incredible six times in 2012. The Boston College-bound senior has a total of 41 goals.
