The girls basketball team advanced to the second round of the Class LL state tournament Monday with a 48-39 win over South Windsor on Monday.

Emma Oyomba scored 11 points and Erica Cohens added 10 for the 12th-seeded Bears, who improved to 16-6 and will face No. 5 seed Hillhouse on Thursday. No. 21 South Windsor concluded'its season at 12-9.

The Bobcats jumped out to a 14-9 lead after the first quarter before Norwalk pulled within 21-20 at the half. The Bears then grabbed a 29-28 lead after the third quarter before outscoring South Windsor 19-11 in the fourth period to pull away.

Zayna Fulton chipped in with eight points for Norwalk while Kaitlyn LaBonte led South Windsor with nine.
