On the strength of Thursday's victory over previously unbeaten St. Joseph, the McMahon baseball team has climbed into the top 10 of the New Haven Register state poll for the first time this season.
The Senators, 12-2 heading into Monday's game against Danbury, surged to ninth. However, they likely will drop back out following a 3-2 loss to the Hatters.

Despite the loss to McMahon, St. Joseph (13-1) took over the No. 1 spot. The Cadets flip-flopped with last week's No. 1 Pomperaug (12-2), which also lost.
There is, however, considerable disagreement who the top team in the state is because St. Joseph, Pomperaug and No. 3 Branford (12-2) each received six first-place votes.
