A berth in the state quarterfinals will be on the line Wednesday, when the McMahon boys basketball team hosts No. 10 Wilbur Cross in the second round of the CIAC Class LL state tournament. If the Senators (17-5) advance, they could be headed to a showdown with No. 2 St. Joseph in the round of eight on Friday. Either way, they would be facing an FCIAC opponent. St. Joseph, the state's top-ranked team until losing to Trinity Catholic in the FCIAC tournament, takes on Stamford in its second-round contest Wednesday.
