Fairfield American Little League Wins Division I Title

Flink (three home runs, five RBIs) powers Fairfield past Nowalk.

The Fairfield American Little League team continued its postseason run with a 10-7 victory over Norwalk to win the Division I title Sunday at Roche Field in Orange.

Fairfield American (9-1) will face Farmington, the Division II winner, Wednesday night (also in Orange) with a state tournament berth on the line.

Jaime Flink powered Fairfield American to the win, going 3-for-4 with three home runs and five RBIs. Brian Howell also hit a home run and recorded the final three outs on the mound for the save.

"Well, I really just tried to put a good swing on the ball," Flink told Mary Albl of the New Haven Register/GameTimeCT.com. "And I know they had good pitchers. I just tried to stay loose. We knew that as long as we stuck together and put good swings on the ball we could put something together and luckily we did."
