Save the Sound, a program of Connecticut Fund for the Environment, will participate in the 11th annual Kayak for a Cause. Save the Sound staff member Asia Neupane will kayak across Long Island Sound from Long Island to Connecticut to raise money for one national charity and three local ones, including Save the Sound.
This year, kayakers will launch from Crab Meadow, New York, and will paddle nearly 13 miles across the Sound to Calf Pasture Beach in Norwalk. Participants and spectators will end the day with a beach party featuring entertainment headlined by John Brown’s Body, Tangiers Blues Band and Planeside.
KFAC was founded in the summer of 2001 by Scott Carlin and Miles Spencer when they made their maiden voyage from Rowayton to Long Island. The resulting charity event was created as a way to blend their love of kayaking with helping those in need.
