What it Takes to be a Marching Bear: Part 3

Whether you like music or marching (or both), consider coming out to see the Marching Bears perform.

Last week Patch introduced The Marching Bears in posts entitled "What it Takes to Be a Marching Bear: Part 1" followed by, What it Takes to Be a Marching ear: Part 2

Today, in Part 3, we share more video of a recent Marching Bears Friday night practice at Andrews Field in Norwalk.

The Marching Bears put in their best show of the year on Saturday at Trumbull High School. They kept their winning streak alive and once more came in first in this Music Arts Conference (MAC) contest, according to an update from M. Jeffry Spahr.

Competing in the National Class of schools (top level), they scored a season high score of 84.85. Their competitor, Newtown High School, scored a respectable 80.75. The host of the competition, Trumbull High School, did not compete and instead only performed for the home town crowd in an  exhibition (as is the custom for host schools).

Of note, the Marching Bears also won individual awards for Best Music, Best Visual, Best General Effect, Best Color Guard (Auxiliary) and Best Percussion.

It should be noted that the programs for all of these schools are constantly changing and undergoing refinement as the season progresses. Thus, the students need to constantly be adapting to a new program week after week. The fact that they can do that and continue to improve is truly impressive.

This week proves the adage 'that there is no rest for the weary' as the Bears will play at the halftime of the football game on Saturday and then travel to Newtown High School to perform that evening (returning back to the field at around 11 pm).

Whether you like music or marching (or both), or just want to go out to show some support for these kids who try so hard and are exactly what we want our students to be, you should come out to see the Marching Bears perform.
