Bus Driver Accused of Revealing Santa's Story Reassigned

Norwalk resident Louis Seeley filed the complaint with the Norwalk schools and First Student last Wednesday.

The bus driver accused by a Norwalk parent of telling his 8-year old daughter that Santa Claus is not real and Jesus wasn't born on Christmas Day, has been reassigned, according to a spokesperson from the First School bus company.

Jen Biddinger of First School told Patch on Monday that the bus driver, whom she would not disclose per company policy, was reassigned to another route in Norwalk "in the best interests of all parties." Biddinger said after speaking with the driver "there was no indication that the driver had committed the allegations that were previously reported."  Biddinger said the girl may have overheard the driver's conversation with another student about what she called "the nature of gift-giving" during the holidays and misunderstood.

Biddinger confirmed there had been a meeting last week between officials from First Student, Columbus Magnet school in Norwalk, the school that employs the bus service, and the parents who made the accusation against the bus driver.

Biddinger told Patch the driver has been with the company since 2007 and "has never had a complaint against him." She stated that parents of other students on the driver's old bus route have called First Student asking if he can be returned.

Efforts to reach officials at Columbs Magnet school were unsuccessful.

Original story.

The Norwalk school administration and officials with school bus company are reportedly investigating a parent’s allegation that a bus driver from the company told his 8-year-old daughter that Santa Claus doesn’t exist and that Jesus was not born on Christmas Day.

According to a report in the Hartford Courant, Norwalk resident Louis Seeley filed the complaint with the Norwalk schools and First Student last Wednesday.

A spokeswoman for First Student, however, says it may have been a misunderstanding — that the girl may have overheard the driver's conversation with other students about what she called "the nature of gift-giving" during the holidays and misunderstood.

School officials reportedly declined to comment.
