Your Tax Dollars at Play [Video]
The play of the state budget battle could mean millions to Norwalk—and screw up the city budget.
Mayor Richard A. Moccia said in an interview taped Thursday that he expected his biggest concern this week would be the state budget, which is unsettled and from which aid to cities and towns may be slashed.
Decisions will have to be made about taxing and spending by the early May deadline for the city budget and tax rates, but the city may have to make those decisions without knowing how many millions of dollars the state will grant this year, Moccia said.
Moccia mentioned a Board of Education meeting, but that meeting, previously scheduled for Tuesday, has since been cancelled.

Moccia mentioned some considerations in hiring police officers: Officers that have been laid off by some other town or city police department can save the city money if it hires them—because the city won't have to pay the expense of sending the new officers to the state police academy.
This is the schedule of upcoming meetings (in Norwalk City Hall, 125 East Ave., unless otherwise noted):
