Third Eye Blind rocks downtown, the three classes of 2011 celebrate and a woman bites off her attacker's tongue.

Arts

San-Francisco-based alternative rock band Third Eye Blind Stamford Downtown's annual concert series. Despite heavy rain and thunderstorms earlier in the day, fans from near and far came out to see the band perform along with local bands Black Taxi and Reverse Order.

Government

In this week's "Minutes with the Mayor" Michael Pavia the investigation carried out by the state and the into whether employees of the Office of Operations were selling small pieces of city scrap metal for cash over the past few decades. State's Attorney David Cohen and Stamford police announced on Thursday that no arrests would be made.

Police & Fire

Norman Gamache, 74, of Westport, Mass., on Thursday when a tree fell on his car as he was driving through the city on the Merritt Parkway. Another passenger, Goldie S. Gitlin, 84, of North Dartmouth, Mass., was taken to to be treated for a fractured sternum and minor injuries to her left hand. A third passenger, Jessica Eisenberg, 24, of Scarsdale, NY, was uninjured.

And on Friday, Stamford police 46-year-old Gerard Michael Landon of 40 Clinton Avenue for sexually assaulting a woman who, in defense, bit off a piece of his tongue, according to Capt. Richard Conklin.

Schools

Three of the city's high schools held graduation ceremonies for their seniors: , and .

Earlier in the week, the Board of Education on its upcoming search for a new superintendent. Robert Rader, executive director of the Connecticut Association of Boards of Education (CABE), was invited to speak to both the Board and the public Tuesday night to give an overview a typical superintendent search.
