Honoring Veterans in Norwalk – A Variety of Activities at City Hall

The annual City of Norwalk's Veterans Day ceremony will take place on Monday at the Concert Hall at Norwalk's City Hall.

The American festival Band will perform in concert from 9:30am to 10am, when the ceremony will begin. The Pledge of Allegiance will be led by Allan Lenard, BMHS Naval JROTC and Jonathan Sanchez, NHS Air Force JROTC.

This year's guest speaker will be Colonel Jon K. Buonerba, U.S. Army, 1985-present, currently stationed at the Pentagon.

As in the past both the USNJROTC from Brien McMahon High School and the USAFJROTC from Norwalk High school will participate. They eagerly await to see who will be awarded the Stew Leonard Trophy for the best precision marching unit during the 2013 Memorial Day parade.

The tradional "2 minutes of silence" will be observed at precisely 11:00am, followed by a rifle 3 volley salute, performed by the Norwalk PD Honor Guard and then "Taps" performed by buglers Chris Denke, NHS Marching Bears and SamStarkman, Brien McMahon High School Marching Senators.

Piper,  Deputy Fire Chief Ed Prescott will perform "Amazing Grace".

Refreshments, courtesy of American Legion Post 12 Auxiliary, VFW Post 603 Auxiliary and the Hilton Garden Inn, Norwalk, will be served in the Community Room following the ceremony.
