Rowayton Seafood Donates $10,000 to Norwalk's Hurricane Sandy Relief

The restaurant ran a promotion to raise funds from the community to donate to those who need it most.

Rowayton Seafood on Thursday donated $10,000 to local Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.Owner Kevin P. Conroy handed over a check for donations in the amount of $10,000 to Norwalk Mayor Richard Moccia at the Rowayton Seafood Restaurant.

Conroy ran a promotion and announced to customers 10-percent of all proceeds would be going to the Fairfield County Foundation to help support local families.

"[Conroy's] a great local businessman and a great citizen," Moccia said. "His appreciation for and dedication to this city have been continuous over the years."

Conroy said he was only doing what he could to help those he knew might be suffering, and try to get everyone else from the immediate community as involved as possible.

"I saw it on TV, saw it when I was driving around—this storm left people hurting," he said. "So many people don't have any sort of safety net to cover their loses. It was just important for me to give back to the community where I live and do business in any way I could."
