Public Workshop for Norwalk Transit Oriented Development (TOD)
There will be a presentation and working session on complete Streets, pedestrian and bicycle friendly neighborhoods and community design on Wednesday at 6:30p.m. at Stepping Stones Museum.
The City and the Norwalk Redevelopment Agency invite you to a presentation and working session on Complete Streets, pedestrian and bicycle friendly neighborhoods and community design. Complete Streets offer street designs to accommodate safe access for all users including pedestrians, bicyclists, transit users and motorists.
People live and work in Norwalk and move to Norwalk for the opportunity to walk and cycle to nearby services and to use public transportation - this is the core strength of all cities, but especially true in Norwalk where the focus is on compact development with a mix of residential and commercial land uses around public transit stations. Residents can live and work in a walkable environment that reduces dependence on an automobile.
Complete Streets experts from CDM Smith, Sasaki Associates and Fitzgerald & Halliday LLC have been studying the existing street network between Norwalk Center and SoNo to develop ideas on how to make these streets more walkable, bikable and engaging. Come see and hear what they have to offer and provide feedback that will be incorporated into the improved design of your streets.

At the workshop, residents, business owners and other stakeholders will:
Review various maps, renderings and a Complete Streets ‘Tool Box’

Discuss potential streetscape, wayfinding and gateway treatments that will add color and interest
Review a network of proposed bicycle routes
Comment on the reconstruction of the staircases that lead from Dr. MLK Drive to the Golden Hill Neighborhood
Help the design team establish priorities for traffic-calming and street reconstruction
The event is free. No registration is required and all ages are welcome. The public workshop will be held on:
