Petrini to Serve as the Majority Leader for Common Council

The following was submitted to Norwalk Patch by David McCarthy for the Republican Caucus of the Norwalk Common Council of 2013-15:

The Republican Caucus of the Common Council announced today that Jerry Petrini will serve as the Majority Leader for the first year of the new council term.  The Majority Leader represents the views of the majority caucus when dealing with the Mayor and the minority caucus.

This will be Mr. Petrini’s second term on the Council. From 2011-13, he chaired the Council’s Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Committee. Mr. Petrini represents District D on the Council, which covers the entire northern part of the city.

Because of the unique situation that exists in Norwalk today, wherein the Mayor is not from the same political party as the majority caucus, Mr. Petrini will serve as a focal point in ensuring the Rilling Administration makes appointments to boards and commissions that are acceptable to the Council majority.

After his selection, Mr. Petrini said, “I look forward to working with our new Mayor and the minority caucus. There are a lot of good things going on in the city, and we need to make sure that they continue.”

Jerry Petrini was born and raised in Norwalk and is a lifelong resident.  He was educated in Norwalk Public Schools and he and his wife, Georgette, have raised their four children in the city. After a career as a builder, Mr. Petrini opened his business, My Three Sons Family Fun Center, which is now located on Wall St.  Mr. Petrini has been a longtime member of the Chamber of Commerce and has been the recipient of many awards, including a grant from the Connecticut Small Business Express Program.
