Oak Hills Park Golf Course to Get $1.5M from State for Improvements

The money will be used to construct a new golf learning center, a nature learning center and other improvements and renovations.

State Rep. Larry Cafero's office issued the following announcement Friday:

Oak Hills Park golf course in Norwalk is expected to receive a $1.5 million grant from the State Bond Commission, House Republican Leader Larry Cafero said today, enabling the long-planned renovations and improvements to the municipal park.

The $1.5 million is part of a larger overall project. Cafero said he was gratified that the item has been placed on the commission’s agenda and thanked Gov. Dan Malloy for his support.

“This is welcome news. A lot of people put a great deal of effort into this and now we can move forward to make this tremendous public asset an even better facility that serves thousands of people every year,’’ Cafero said.

The grant appeared on the commission agenda and is expected to be voted on when the panel meets next Friday, July 25, for its regularly scheduled monthly session.

The money will be used to construct a new golf learning center, a nature learning center and other improvements and renovations.

Ernie DesRochers, Vice Chairman of the Oak Hills Park Authority, said, “We want to create greater uses for the park for everyone, not just golfers. This is great news because we now start implementing our Master Plan for the park.’’
