The following email was sent by Melinda Zupaniotis, a Norwalk resident and Patch reader:
PLEASE VERIFY YOUR POLLING PLACE!! You may think you know it, but you may be wrong, as I and many other people were this morning in Norwalk. They changed our polling place from the grammar school to the middle school...but the card they sent about that change arrived YESTERDAY and said only "The Roton School" - not Roton Middle School - and as luck would have it, the grammar school, high school and middle school are all on the same road. To make it more confusing, the signs the City of Norwalk put up at the old polling place did not indicate where the new polling place was, nor did it include a website or phone number to consult for the correct information. Thank goodness for my smartphone.
I spent 30 minutes in the parking lot of the old polling place, giving directions to many confused citizens (many elderly) as to where to go...and luckily, among the stash in this packrat's back seat, I had poster board and big Sharpie markers, so I made a few signs like the one shown here. I hope people see them.
When I notified the staff at the new polling place, they all shrugged.
SO - no matter what your political beliefs are, no matter who your favorite candidates are, I hope you go out and VOTE! And to reiterate, please check the exact location of your polling place...even if the street is familiar, check the address and map it out! http://my.norwalkct.org/evoterpoll/
