Interstate 95 Cedar Street Overpass Closed for Reconstruction
Project to demolish and rebuild it scheduled to take 15 months as part of three-year-long project to widen I-95 between exits 14 and 15.
The Cedar Street overpass, which spans Interstate 95 in Norwalk, was closed Monday for the start of a project scheduled to take 15 months.
During the closure, the bridge will be demolished and rebuilt as part of a project to improve lane widths and merge distances on I-95 between exits 14 and 15, and improve the width of access ramps to Route 1. The added lanes require the replacement overpass be longer.
The overpass connects Cedar Street to Connecticut Avenue (Route 1) in West Norwalk.

The Dept. of Transportation advises motorists and pedestrians to use the Fairfield Avenue overpass as a detour. However, the Taylor Avenue overpass is only a block south of the Cedar Street span.
The Cedar Street overpass will be closed until Nov. 2013. The state says motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.
