GOP Governor Hopefuls Think of Unseating Malloy

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy is almost halfway through his first term, but some are hoping he won't win a second term.

 

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy won’t be up for reelection until 2014, but some prominent Republicans in Connecticut are already thinking of the race. Chief among them, according to the Stamford Advocate, is Tom Foley.

Foley against Malloy in 2010, losing by a slim margin of less than 7,000 votes.

"Yes, I plan to [run], but it's still early," Foley told the newspaper.

Lawrence Cafero Jr., the House Minority leader and Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton were named in the article as possibilities, as was “wild card” former U.S. Rep. Chris Shays.

While the election is two years away, public polls have sometimes been unfavorable toward first term Gov. Malloy. Public Policy Polling ranked Malloy as .
