Duff on Outgoing DEEP Commissioner Esty: Pragmatist, Leader and Friend

On Wednesday State Senator Bob Duff, (D-Norwalk), Senate Chair of the General Assembly’s Energy & Technology Committee, made the following statement in light of Commissioner Daniel C. Esty's resignation from the Department of Energy & Environmental Protection:

"Commissioner Dan Esty has been an outstanding leader of the Department of Energy & Environmental Protection. A pragmatist and leader who works to bring people together on a multitude of issues, he has done yeoman's work to move our energy and environmental policies forward in our state.

"As someone who has worked closely with the commissioner on energy issues, Dan Esty has a real passion for lowering costs, improving the environment and sustaining our future for generations to come. He understands that our economy grows over the long-term with cheaper, cleaner and more reliable energy.

"Working in a partnership with the commissioner, we have put Connecticut on the map for a brighter future through the policy goals advocated by Governor Malloy, Commissioner Dan Esty and the legislature over the last three years.

"I will miss my frequent interactions with the commissioner. He's been a wonderful resource and someone who I call 'friend'. I'm thankful for Dan's service. The next commissioner will be charged with building on the strong foundation he has laid."
