Camillo gets a union endorsement; Democratic candidates to visit Senior Center.

Firefighters Union Endorses Camillo

The Uniformed Professional Fire Fighters Association of Connecticut has endorsed Republican state Rep. Fred Camillo for reelection for the 151st District.

In a prepared statement, President Peter S. Carozza Jr. said, “It is an honor to announce that following the recommendation of the Executive Board and the Political Action Committee, the Uniformed Professional Fire Fighters Association of Connecticut heartily endorses Representative Fred Camillo, for re-election this November."

Carozza said, "This action was taken after careful consideration of his record of support for the Professional Fire Fighters of Connecticut and his leadership in helping to insure the health and safety of our members and that of our fellow citizens.”

Also included in the statement was a comment from Camillo. "It is truly an honor to receive the endorsement of the Uniformed Professional Fire Fighters Association of Connecticut. These men and women are on the front lines of Public Safety and are an integral part of our Homeland Security." Camillo added, "I was proud to speak on and vote for legislation that provides support services for these professionals who routinely encounter horrific situations as part of their job. They deserve our full support and gratitude."

Paul Rapanault, the union's director of legislative and political affairs, said, “We believe that professionalism and leadership in the field of Public Safety is critical to the continuing debate on Homeland Security. We need strong, thoughtful voices in that debate. Representative Camillo is one of those voices."

The Uniformed Professional Fire Fighters Association of Connecticut is the state association of the International Association of Fire Fighters, which represents 60 affiliated local unions in the state, comprising about 4,200 members.
