Campaign Notebook: McMahon Debuts New Ad

Senate

Linda McMahon (R): The campaign released a new ad that talks up McMahon’s business credentials with the WWE, and criticizes Chris Murphy for skipping committee hearings in Congress, while also condemning a couple of his votes.

Chris Murphy (D): A shows Murphy leading by four points. A poll released from Quinnipiac University earlier this week showed McMahon with a three-point lead, so the race appears to be close.

Fourth District

Jim Himes (D) and other local officials affiliated with the Norwalk Democratic Town Committee handed out 77 backpacks to students, reports The Hour.

Steve Obsitnik (R): New information shows that the Fairfield County housing market was especially hard-hit by the recession, and Obsitnik says incumbent Jim Himes is partly to blame. In a statement the candidate said:

This news comes as no surprise to most Fairfield County homeowners, but it will make them stop and think about why we are in this devastating position.

For the past four years, Jim Himes has been spending taxpayer money with reckless abandon in Washington D.C. Today our national debt stands at $16 trillion, up from $9.2 trillion when Himes got to Congress. Meantime, the Dodd-Frank bill, supported and voted for by Jim Himes, is killing the banking industry with suffocating regulations.
