Social Club Fight Brings Two Arrests

A fistfight at an East Norwalk social club early Saturday morning -- reportedly triggered by how a man's name was spoken, but misunderstood -- resulted in the arrest of two men.

Police were called to the Pastime Club, 59 Seaview Ave., at 12:45 a.m. on a report of a fight in progress.

Officers reported a woman told them she had been drinking in the club with her boyfriend and two other males they had met that evening. As the woman and her boyfriend were leaving, she said goodnight to one of the men, later identified as Derek Coulson, and asked him the name of his friend. Coulson reportedly told her his name is Kilyan.

According to police spokesman Lt. Bruce Hume, she said,  "Goodbye, Kilyan," and he allegedly began yelling and screaming, "Why did you call me killer?"

Later identified as Kilyan Kildow, he allegedly moved toward the woman and made  an obscene gesture, resulting in her boyfriend stepping between them.

Kildow allegedly got into a fistfight with the boyfriend, at which point Coulson came between them and started fighting Kildow.

Others in the bar reportedly intervened to end the fighting before police arrived. Officers said Kildow got into a physical struggle with officers before he could be handcuffed.

Kildow, 41, of Maynard, CT, was charged with assault on an peace officer and breach of peace. He was held in lieu of $25,000 bond and given a court date of April 5.

Coulson, 25, of 14 Mott Ave., was charged with interferring with an officer and breach of peace. He was held in lieu of $500 bond and also scheduled to appear in court April 5.

Parents Bicker Over Who Drives Newborn Home

Police were called to the exit door of the maternity department at Norwalk Hospital Saturday afternoon on a report a couple was arguing over who would drive their newborn home.

An officer reported a hospital security guard pointed out the bickering couple, and saw the husband attempting to prevent his wife from leaving the hospital with their child. The woman said she and her mother wanted  to drive the baby home.

Lt. Bruce Hume, who was called to the scene, told reporters the women eventually agreed to have the father drive the child home, ending the dispute.

Hume said he directed the officer assigned to the call to file a report with the state's Department of Children and Families.

Time With Kids Triggers Argument Between Parent

Police were called to 18 Spring Hill Rd. Sunday afternoon on a report parents were in a dispute over how much time they each should be spending with their children.

The husband, later identified as Efrain Negron, allegedly pushed his wife into their kitchen, then struck her on the left side of her face.

Officers reported Negron admitted they had been in an argument, but denied striking his wife.

Negron was charged with disorderly conduct and released on a promise to appear in court on Monday.

Negron called police back to their home Sunday night. He told officers that after his arrest, his wife went out and got drunk and then returned home.

Negron said his wife wanted to see their children, but he didn't want them to see her intoxicated and until the Dept. of Children and Families was "further involved in the situation."

An officer said he then spoke with Negron's wife, who, the officer found, had a strong smell of alcohol on her breath, was slurring her words and "clearly was under the influence of alcohol or drugs."

Informed that her husband didn't want her there in her current condition, she agreed to have police take her to the city's Open Door shelter to spend the night. Police said she was informed not to return home that night.

Information for this report was provided by the Norwalk Police Department. An arrest does not mean a person is guilty of a crime.
