Two Men Arrested For Baseball Bat Assaults

Two victims could not provide police with a motive for the attack earlier this month.

Two men were arrested by warrant Friday morning for allegedly striking two teenagers with a baseball bat in South Norwalk .

Norwalk residents Christian Aguilar and Ronald Washburn are charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree assault, and numerous narcotics crimes.

The pair are accused of attacking a man who was walking to a grocery store for cigarettes with three friends the evening of Wednesday, March 7, near the intersection of Ely and Ryan avenues. They told police the assailant stepped out from the front passenger seat of a parked car with the bat in hand.

When another member of the group attempted to stop the attack he, too, was struck in the head and face.

The attacker eventually returned to the car and it sped off. The four went to a Ryan Ave. house and called police at 10:06 p.m.

Police did not indicate whether Aguilar or Washburn is suspected of wielding the bat.

The two men struck were taken by ambulance to Norwalk Hospital. Police said the 18-year-old man initially attacked had two large cuts on his scalp, and abrasions on his forehead and nose. The other victim, who is 17, had injuries to his head and face.

Detectives questioned the four, none of whom could provide a reason for the attack. Both were treated and then released from the hospital.

Aguilar, of 247 Wilson Ave., and Washburn, no address provided by police, were each held in lieu of $150,000 bond and given a court date of March 26.
