Cops: Woman Falsely Claimed Attack in Norwalk Office Park
Police leaving it up to the supervising assistant state's attorney in state Superior Court in Norwalk whether to charge the woman with filing a false report.
A woman's claim to police last Monday that a man snuck up behind her in the parking lot of a Main Avenue office park and cut her was false, police said Friday morning.
The woman called police at 5:43 p.m. from i.park at 761 Main Ave. reporting the attack.
A police broadcast of the report said the woman claimed she barely got a look at her assailant, and that she was able break free from him and run away.

She said he may have been wearing a hoodie and that she thought he ran in the opposite direction, according to the broadcast.
Until Friday, police refused to disclose anything about the reported assault, despite the fact it drew a large number of officers to the location and triggered a major search effort in the surrounding area.

Park tenants include LA Fitness, Norwalk Hospital and the Soundview Medical Group.
Meeting with reporters Friday morning, Sgt. Lisa Cotto, a department spokesman, said she was limited in what she could say about the alleged incident to a brief paragraph provided to her by Dep. Chief Thomas Kulhawik.
The statement said that following additional interviews, it was determined the report was false and the investigation has been closed. In addition, it said police will not arrest the woman for filing a false report unless directed to do so by the supervising assistant state's attorney in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
