Woman Stabbed in Back on Glasser Street

A 29-year-old Norwalk woman was stabbed in the back in the early hours of Sunday, with the knife blade still in her lower back and 1 1/2 inches of it sticking out after the handle had been snapped off.

Police found her shortly before 1:30 a.m. laying on the pavement on Glasser Street screaming.

Norwalk police gave this account of the incident:

Police came to the scene after receiving a 1:17 a.m. 911 call Sunday in which the caller didn't say anything.

The victim told police that two males had approached her near the intersection of Glasser Street and Talmadge, jumped her, told her to empty her pocket and then stabbed her.

The men ran south on Glasser Street, she said, but she couldn't give police a description of either man.

A woman who identified herself to police as the victim's wife was sitting in a car on the street. She told police she had an on-again, off-again relationship with the victim, who she found prone on the street. She called 911, then started panicking, she said.

The wife said she didn't see anyone on the street. Police said they found no indication that the wife was involved in an altercation with the victim. There has been a history of domestic disputes between the two women, and police have been called in on other occasions.

No arrests were made, but Norwalk police continued to investigate the incident.
