Woman Reports Being Attacked on East Avenue [Update]

The following information was provided by the Norwalk Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction. (Updated with Westport police arrest.)

A woman told police early Sunday morning that she was attacked on East Avenue while she was walking home.

The woman said she had been at the El Mexicano restaurant on Wall Street. She said as she was walking in the area of 218 East Ave. when she noticed two men outside ahead of her.

She said she asked to use a cell phone, and one of the men gave her a phone, which she used to contact a friend for a ride.

She said she then asked if she could use a lighter. She said one of the men went into a house, and then returned, telling her in Spanish, “I have a lighter for you.”

At that point, she said, the man pulled a knife out of his pocket, put it to her throat, and said, give me the phone.

She said she dropped the phone, kicked off her sandals and began running. She said the men ran after her some distance before they stopped.

She was then picked up by a man passing by in a car, she said.

Investigation of the incident was turned over to the Detective Bureau.

Argument Between Couple Becomes Violent

Police on Sunday arrested a South Norwalk woman after she allegedly used a knife to inflict minor cuts on her boyfriend’s chin and on the right side of his head near the hairline.

Natasha Joseph called police at 2:36 p.m. requesting officers come to her apartment at 133 Monterey Pl. because the two were arguing.

The first officer to arrive found Claudio Mendoza packing his belongings, saying, “I only want to leave.

Joseph said Mendoza had pushed her, so she cut him.

The officer reported Mendoza’s cuts were not severe and had stopped bleeding.

Joseph was charged with second-degree assault and disorderly conduct. Mendoza, 33, of 2 Technology Pl., was charged with disorderly conduct.

Both were held on $500 bonds and were scheduled to appear in court Monday.

Mendoza was taken to Norwalk Hospital for treatment.

House Burglarized on Juhasz Road

A house burglary was reported Saturday night at 14 Juhasz Rd.

The homeowner called police at 10:22 p.m. and told officers he had been away all day.

The homeowner said jewelry was taken.

It was unclear how the house was entered. There was a fan missing from a window and a sliding door was found open.

Westport police arrest Norwalk teenager on marijuana-selling charge

Alfred Trusewicz, 19, of Norwalk was arrested by Westport police on Thursday and charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and sale of controlled substance.

Westport police gave the following account of the arrest:

While conducting a search warrant as part of an ongoing investigation unrelated to the narcotics charges, officers located a large amount of cash in a plastic bag and some marijuana.

The address where the search was carried out was not released by police.

Police also found more than 300 small plastic bags used for packaging narcotics. In addition they found a cigarette box containing seven yellow pills, which were later identified as Clonazepam, a controlled substance. The pills were found near the marijuana and cash, police said.

The marijuana weighed 3.34 oz. Trusewicz posted bond and is scheduled to appear in court on August 25.
