A city animal control officer was called in from home to get control of the dog. The officers reported he first atttempted to hold the dog with a control pole, but was unsuccessful. He then went outdoors and cut a slot in a plastic shield installed next to a window air conditioner in the room where the dog was being held.

He shot the dog with a tranquilizer dart.

The dog was taken to the city's pound where it will be quarantined until July 22, police said.
