Woman Escapes Rolling Inferno

Norwalk Fire Department extinguishes blaze on I-95.

An unidentified woman traveling from New York City to Massachusetts early on Monday morning, escaped serious injuries as her vehicle became engulfed in flames.

According to the Norwalk Fire Department, they received a call about a vehicle in flames on the northbound side of I-95 at approximately 4:30 a.m. A 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee was in the breakdown lane under the Cedar Street overpass when crews arrived.

The lone female driver was the only person in the vehicle and she reportedly noticed smoke in the rear view mirror and then it started to flow through the dashboard. She pulled over into the breakdown lane and exited through the passenger's side of the vehicle as it started to catch fire.

Fire department personnel responded to the scene and extinguished the flames engulfing the vehicle, quickly The woman was unharmed and her vehicle was towed away. An investigation is on-going.
