Woman Accused of Misappropriating Norwalk Company's Funds

Said to have used money to pay car loan, utility bills, and go shopping.

A Florida woman was arrested by warrant Tuesday for allegedly embezzling thousands of dollars from a Norwalk company over a period of a year.

Rachel Delacalzada, 29, of Miami, was charged with first-degree larceny. She was released on a promise to appear in court March 29.

Police said Delacalzada worked as a bookeeper for the firm Liquid Assets Events at 801 Merritt Seven. Beginning in January 2011, she allegedly used company funds to pay off a car loan, pay her utility bils, shop at Bed, Bath & Beyond and WalMart, and purchase Apple products.

Police said her activities were discovered this past January. She is accused of misappropriating a total of $43,000.

Police said Dalacalzada may previously have lived at 14 Woodbury Ave. in Norwalk before moving to Miami.
