U.S. Attorney for Connecticut Announces Norwalk Drug Arrests

Narcotics task force nabs three Norwalk men for alleged distribution of cocaine and heroin.

Three city men are in federal custody after searches of two Norwalk homes found narcotics, cash and firearms, according to the U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut.

In a news release, David B. Fein said the men were arrested after a Drug Enforcement Administration task force executed search warrants at 18-20 Taylor Ave. and 20 Woodbury Ave. He said that on March 27, a New York City police officer investigating narcotics trafficking notified the DEA office in Bridgeport that individuals working out of the two address had just received a multiple-kilogram shipment of cocaine.

The next morning, Fein said, the DEA Bridgeport High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Task Force and members of the Norwalk Police Special Services Division executed a search warrant at 20 Woodbury Ave. and encountered Hector Valle, Jose Mendez-Luna and Eduardo Villegas.

Fein said the true identities of the men are still to be determined.

Inside a bedroom at that address, officers allegedly found a 9-millimeter firearm, a magazine with four rounds of ammunition and 275 grams of suspected cocaine powder.  Inside another bedroom said to be occupied by Valle, they allegedly found several individual baggies of suspected cocaine, approximately $8,000 in cash, five to eight grams of raw heroin, and numerous suspected drug ledgers. In addition, one ounce of heroin was allegedly located in the kitchen.

At a subsequent search at 18-20 Taylor Ave., approximately five kilograms of heroin were allegedly found, along with 10 pounds of methamphetamine, $279,000 in cash, a handgun, ammunition and narcotics packaging materials.

The three have been charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine and heroin, and conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine and heroin.

On Wednesday, the defendants appeared in U.S. District Court in Bridgeport before Magistrate Judge Holly B. Fitzsimmons. They are being detained.

The DEA task force in Bridgeport consists of members of the Bridgeport, Milford, Norwalk, Stamford, Stratford and Westport police departments.
