A Norwalk woman and a Fairfield woman were each charged with shoplifting $267 worth of merchandise on Monday after they tried to leave Kohl's store without paying for it, according to Darien police.
Police said the woman had underwear, a Yankee Candle tie, two six-packs of socks and a Mudd brand jacket when they rolled past the cashiers just before 4:27 p.m. a and were about to leave the building. A store detective stopped them.
Both of the women admitted they were trying to shoplift, according to police. One of the two women said the pair was "just being stupid."
Kaylie Philbin of Margemere Road in Fairfield and Danielle Lindland of Couch Street, Norwalk, both 28 years old, were each charged with two counts of sixth-degree larceny. They were each released on a promise to appear Sept. 17 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
