Two Brothers Arrested for Fighting Each Other with Samurai Swords

The altercation between the brothers on Van Zant Street also resulted in a marijuana possession arrest for their friend, according to police.

Two Norwalk brothers were arrested on Saturday for allegedly fighting each other using samurai swords outside of their apartment building, according to police.

When officers were called to 2 Van Zant Street, 25 year-old Tracey Teague was seen outside of the apartment building without a shirt on and appeared as though he had been injured, police said. Teague told the officers that he had gotten into a physical altercation with an unidentified male on East Avenue and continued to struggle with him as he returned to his residence. When the officers asked if he needed medical attention, Teague refused, police said.

According to police, the officers wanted to make sure that Teague's girlfriend, who he said was inside of the apartment, was okay, so they followed him discovered two samurai swords sitting on the staircase as well as a few droplets of blood. When the officers knocked on the door, Teague's girlfriend let them in, police said.

After looking behind the shower curtain in the bathroom, officers discovered two three-foot-tall marijuana plants, which the woman inside of the apartment claimed belonged to her, police said. The officers also found a digital scale, which the woman said belonged to 25 year-old Brandon Smart, who also lived at the apartment. Police said that the woman later confessed the plants also belonged to Smart.

According to police, officers also found Smart in the apartment and he appeared to be injured. Police later discovered that Smart tried to get in between Teague and his 24 year-old brother Titus Snyder as they fought outside of the building with the swords and got injured in the process.

Teague and Snyder were each charged with interfering with an officer, assault and carrying a dangerous weapon and were scheduled to appear in court on Monday. Their bond was set at $50,000 each.

Smart was charged with interfering with an officer, assault, possession of drug paraphernalia, and illegal manufacturing, distribution and/or sale of prescription drugs. He was scheduled to appear in court on Monday and his bond was set at $150,000. He also has a warrant pending in Suffolk County, NY, for parole violation, which carries a $150,000 bond.
