Two Arrested In Heroin Bust

Police arrest two men after receiving a tip that they had heroin.

Acting on an anonymous tip, Norwalk Police officials arrested two men early Wednesday morning who were in possession of a significant amount of heroin.

According to Officer Carlton Giles, the department received a call about two men in Norwalk who allegedly had a large quantity of heroin on them. At 1:30 a.m on Wednesday, police officers observed a white, four-door Buick with two male occupants, one of whom they recognized as Fred Tate, who has a long criminal record, according to police officials.

Police stopped the Buick on North Water and Marshall Street and advised the men to put their hands in the air, while showing their badges. Upon investigation, police found 15 glassine envelopes on Tate, who was driving the vehicle, containing what they believed to be was heroin and tested positive for a short time later. The passenger in the car, Jeffrey Grim, 40, of 18 Cat Rock Road in Cos Cob, allegedly had 20 glassine envelopes that contained heroin. He also had a 380 caliber Smith & Wesson in a holster, but police officials said Grim had a permit for it.
