Two Arrested For Assault Outside South Norwalk Bar [Update]

The following information was provided by the Norwalk Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Police witnessed a person being punched in the head Wednesday morning outside a South Norwalk bar, resulting in two men being charged with assault.

At 12:42 a.m. officers reported encountering a group of approximately 15 people arguing outside the Ginger Man restaurant at 99 Washington St.

The officers said they ordered the group to move on, which is when one man punched another in the head for no reason.

As Ocampo was being brought under control, officers said his friend, Juan Vangompel, 23, of 46 Carter St., New Canaan, came to his defense, attempting to prevent him from being taken him into custody.
