Three Norwalk Residents Escape Early Morning Blaze
Three people are unhurt after escaping early-morning blaze in South Norwalk..
The Norwalk Fire Department responded to a call at 4:52 a.m. on Monday about a structure fire at St Paul’s Terrace Condominiumsin South Norwalk. According to fire department officials, the fire started in the garage of unit 60.
There were three occupants in the unit at the time of the fire. A man and his wife, along with their college age son were alerted by smoke detectors and escaped the condo out a rear sliding door on the second floor. Norwalk Hospital Paramedics were called to the scene to evaluate an elderly woman whose neighboring unit had elevated levels of carbon monoxide.
The fire which originated just inside the garage door, was extinguished within minutes of the fire departments arrival. According to fire officials, the unit was deemed unfit for occupancy from smoke and soot damage. Power to the row of 10 units was also shut down due to the proximity of the main service cables to the fire. The condominium association management team was on scene making arrangements for an electrician and commercial salvage company to check the building.
