Suspected Gunman in South Norwalk Homicide Captured
Police say tips from the community led to his identity.
Norwalk Police have captured the man they say fatally shot John "Debo" Alston on May 23.
Pernell McBride, 48, was taken into custody Thursday in Manhattan. He will appear at an extradition hearing before being turned over to Norwalk detectives, who will charge him with murder.
U.S. Marshalls participated in apprehending him, police said.

Police said tips from the community enabled them to identify McBride, whose last know address was 93 Suncrest Rd., according to department spokesman Lt. Praveen John.
Alston was shot a week ago Wednesday in a driveway at 119 South Main St. in South Norwalk. He died after being transported to Norwalk Hospital.

Alston's death was the second homicide in Norwalk this year. On Feb. 3, 20-year-old Joseph Bateman was shot to death on a walkway behind the Avalon Norwalk apartments on Belden Ave. The investigation of that incident continues.
