State Marshal Busted For Drug Possession
Allan Freedman, A Norwalk resident had 137 ounces of marijuana in car.
Allen Freedman, a state marshal and Norwalk resident, was stopped for running a red light and subsequently arrested after a search revealed that he had marijuana, smoking pipes, and packaging materials in possession.
Freedman, 58, of 2 Chelene Road, was stopped Tuesday after running a red light on Connecticut Avenue near the Post Road Diner. Freedman identified himself as a state marshal to the arresting officer and presented his badge as proof. Freedman was initially given a verbal warning for running the red light.
However, that all changed when a back-up officer arrived on the scene.Sergeant Fred Reda, who is in charge of the Norwalk Police Department's K-9 unit, had the German Sheppard, "Czar" in his vehicle. Reda brought "Czar" out for a routine check and the canine was sniffing around the trunk. When asked if he had anything in the trunk, Freedman responded, "Yeah, weed."

A search of the trunk revealed that Freedman allegedly had two bags of marijuana, nine smoking pipes, three digital scales, and one bag of marijuana seeds. The officers measured the amount of marijuana and it came out to 137.9 ounces. Freedman also had $579 in cash on him at the time of the arrest.

- Possession of marijuana greater than four ounces
- Illegal manufacture, distribution, sale, prescription (two counts)
- Drug paraphernalia
- Sale, possession within distance within school
Bond was set for $10,000. Freedman has a court date on February 2.
