Stamford Woman Accused of Shoplifting at Wal-Mart

Leaves store Wednesday with more than $300 in unpaid merchandise, police are told.

A Stamford woman was stopped by a loss prevention employee outside the Wal-Mart store at 680 Connecticut Ave. Wednesday afternoon for allegedly attempting to steal more than $300 in merchandise.

Store security contacted police at 12:56 p.m. to report having the woman in custody. Police were told the woman filled a bag with two pairs of pants, four shirts, two Sony DVD players, adhesive bandages and lotion and exited the store without paying for the items.

The store said the value of the merchandise was $382.55.

Mary Paragarino, 44, of 52 Limerick St., was charged with sixth-degree larceny. She was held on $475 bond and given a court date of July 25.
