School Board Member Accused of Using Cell Phone While Driving

Found operating an unregistered vehicle with a suspended license, police said.

Board of Education member Michael Barbis was stopped on Highland Avenue Wednesday afternoon for allegedly using a cell phone while driving.

The officer who made the stop, Nicholas Dascola, reported Barbis' car was unregistered and uninsured, and his license had been suspended or revoked.

Barbis, of 29 Pine Point Rd. in Rowayton, was elected to the board in November 2011. His term expires in 2015.
