Pasa, a retired Norwalk K9, took one final ride Friday in the K9 cruiser before he had to be euthanized.

Pasa suffered from two types of degenerative conditions, according to a Norwalk Police Department Facebook post, and he couldn’t function without assistance.

The K9 protected Norwalk for three years, tracking and assisting with narcotic seizures. After retiring five years ago, Pasa lived with Sgt. Tom Fern and his family.

“PASA was given the honor and dignity he deserved for the time he protected the residents of Norwalk by getting picked up in the K9 cruiser for his last ride where he put his face in the wind and enjoyed protecting the City of Norwalk one last time,” the Facebook post said.

I didn't know this dog or the handler but I just wanted to comment. Dogs are humans kind's best friends. It's a pity this dog could not enjoy retirement. Let's hope Pasa and all dogs do go to heaven. They are special comrades and our best animal friends and maybe sometimes just flat out our best friends on this planet.
